GAINESVILLE, Fl. - Laura and Howard have been married for 73 years, and their love today is as strong as ever.
Erin Solari posted a touching video to Facebook showing her grandparents Laura, 93, and Howard, 92, enjoying what's left of their time together. Laura is currently living at a hospice center in Gainesville, Florida.
Solari explains that before she started recording, Laura heard Howard's voice in the room, and she asked if she could hold him. Howard can't stand on his own, but eager to comfort his ailing wife, he pulled himself out of his wheelchair and stood by her, stroking her face.
Laura has macular degeneration, so she's partially blind.
"That doesn't stop her from looking deep into her love's eyes," writes Solari.
Then, music starts filling the room and Howard and Laura serenade each other with their favorite love song: "You'll Never Know" by Rosemary Clooney and Harry James.
The song comforted Laura when Howard left to fight in WWII.
"At family gatherings, it was not uncommon for the two of them to sing this song together, each taking a verse and serenading the other," wrote Solari on Facebook.
In the video, Laura watches her husband lovingly, and says, "He likes me" softly. Howard laughed heartily in response.
As the song ends, Howard carefully lowers himself back into his wheelchair, repeating several times, "You're mine."
Erin posted an update after the video went viral on her Facebook page. Doctors deemed Laura well enough to live out the rest of her days at home.
"We all thank you so much for the love and kind words," wrote Solari.
