PRATTVILLE, Ala. — A 5-year-old Alabama boy's touching request to feed a homeless man has gone viral.
According to WSFA in Montgomery, Josiah Duncan and his mother, Ava Faulk, were at a Waffle House in Prattville when they saw a disheveled man outside holding a bag and a bicycle.
Josiah immediately began asking his mom about the man's appearance. When Faulk said he was homeless, Josiah asked her what that meant.
"Well, that means he doesn't have a home," Faulk said.
Josiah asked more questions – "Where is his house? Where is his family?" – and pointed out something that really bothered him: The man had no food.
Josiah asked his mom to buy the man a meal, and she happily agreed.
"He came in and sat down, and nobody really waited on him," Faulk told WSFA. "So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can't order without one."
The man was worried about ordering something too expensive, but Faulk told him that he could get whatever he wanted.
"'Can I have bacon?'" Faulk said he asked. "And I told him, 'Get as much bacon as you want.'"
Before the meal, Josiah said the blessing with the man as the other patrons watched.
"The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried," Faulk said.
