CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens of dogs and cats were removed from a woman’s house in a possible case of animal cruelty.
Earlier this month, Clayton County police’s animal control unit was called out to a home on the 1200 block of Trahlyta Terrace in Lake City to check out a case of possible animal hoarding.
When officers from the animal control unit and Lake City Police Department arrived, they confirmed the tip was valid and immediately got to work.

Inside the home, animal control officers said they endured the horrible odors, a flea infestation and animal feces all over while trying to rescue the animals.
The animal control officers had to use personal protective equipment for the “hazmat conditions.”
Officers were able to rescue 45 puppies/dogs and 11 kittens/cats from inside the home. Multiple dogs suffered from the mange and other severe health related illnesses, authorities said.
