33 dogs rescued from poor living conditions in northeast Georgia

TOCCOA, Ga. — Dozens of dogs will soon be in need of new homes after they were rescued from poor living conditions in Stephens County.

The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter reported it was called to a house on Wednesday about dogs that needed help. The shelter found 33 dogs living in outdoor sheds and trailer with urine stains.

The owner surrendered the animals and the shelter reached out to Atlanta Humane Society to take most of the dogs in to avoid having to euthanize any of them.

“The Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter would not have been able to provide the care and attention that they will need to be well, both physically and emotionally. We are very grateful that the Atlanta Humane Society was there for us,” the shelter said on Facebook.
