Fireworks explosion injures 2 in Woodstock

Fourth of July celebrations came to a pause for many celebrating in Woodstock Wednesday night when two workers were injured.

Woodstock police said two employees of the company hired to put on the show suffered minor injuries from a close-to-the-ground detonation that caused a huge explosion.

The explosion happened around 9:30 p.m. as families watched the fireworks display near the Woodstock Square Shopping Center.

"All we heard were fire engines and ambulances coming in and all the cars left," witness Brittany Caruthers said.

One of the employees was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. — The fireworks resumed around 10:30 p.m.
