Police: Brothers were shot to death inside home

ATLANTA — Police are investigating a double-fatal shooting in southwest Atlanta.

Police say they were called to a home on Mims Street just before 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The call was initially for a report of a person injured, but officers say they found two men shot to death inside the home.

A medical examiner identified the two men as Marcus Peek, 37, and Ras Aole Jaja Peek, 32.

They say the two were brothers and lived at the house.

A neighbor told Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach he heard about 6 or 7 gunshots around 6 a.m., two hours before the shootings.

Police say that along with the men’s bodies, they found a dog that had been shot. It was taken to the vet and is expected to survive.

Homicide investigators are trying to piece together who was in the house at the time of the killings and looking for a motive. They are also looking for witnesses or anyone with information about the killings.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, but said no one is telling them anything about a possible suspect, or giving a vehicle description.

Police are asking for the community's help. Anyone who saw or heard anything is asking to call Atlanta police or CrimeStoppers.
