DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Two people were taken to the hospital after a plane crash at a private airfield in north Georgia on Sunday.
Dawson County Fire Chief Troy Leist said the aircraft was small and crashed just of the airfield.
In an afternoon update, Leist reported that two people were transported in critical condition. Their current conditions are unknown.
One person was found outside the aircraft, and the second was trapped in the wreckage.
Crews started immediately providing care to the person found outside the craft, while others worked to free the person trapped in the plane.
One patient was taken to the hospital by ground ambulance, while the second was taken by air ambulance.
Leist told Channel 2’s Susan Hendricks he’s not releasing the identity of the plane crash victims until family is notified.

According to Elliot Field manager Bill Elliot in Dawsonville, the plane lost its motor and crashed at the airport.
Additional details about the crash were not immediately available.
