2 killed in head-on car crash

SUWANEE, Ga. — Suwanee police are investigating a car crash that killed two people Wednesday night.

It happened just after 6 p.m. on McGinnis Ferry Road.

Police said a car crossed over the median and struck another car head-on.

Both drivers were killed in the incident.

Investigators said the road is expected to be shut down for some time while they investigate the crash.

"Right now it's still early in the investigation. The main thing is, because it's a double fatality, we're going to have the road closed for quite a while. Also, the best thing that you can do is avoid McGinnis Ferry for the next few hours," said Capt. Cass Mooney with the Suwanee Police Department.

Mooney said the victims were a man and a woman, both adults.

Investigators are not releasing the names of the people killed, pending family notification.
