ATLANTA — Thirteen people have died on Georgia roads so far this Memorial Day weekend as of 10 a.m. Monday.
The fatality count began on Friday at 6 p.m. and will go until midnight tonight.
There were 17 deaths on Georgia roadways during the holiday period last year.
"The most busy times of travel during the holiday period are usually the afternoon/evening of the first day of the period (Friday) and again on the evening/night of the last day of the holiday period (Monday)," the Georgia State Patrol said.
The Georgia State Patrol is encouraging everyone to obey speed limits and not drink and drive.
