Itchy hand brings new Cadillac, cash for Savannah woman

An itchy hand has brought additional holiday cheer to a Savannah woman courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. Amy Emmick, 37, won a 2015 Cadillac SRX plus $33,652 playing the instant game Cadillac Riches.

Georgia Lottery representatives recently presented Emmick with the keys to her new vehicle at the Georgia Lottery District Office, 101 Little Neck Road, Savannah.

“I just bought a ticket and scratched it off,” Emmick said. “I don’t play very often, but I had an inkling to play because my hand was itching.”

Parker’s #0021, 1976 E. Victory Drive in Savannah, sold the winning ticket.

“I’m lucky and kind of blown,” the mother of three said. “I am giddy! When I claimed the prize, the feeling hit me like a ton of bricks.”

Emmick and her husband, James, have three children. She is a student studying business administration at Savannah Technical College.

“We’re taking it all in as it comes,” she said. “We may take an excursion.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
