The department posted a video on it’s Facebook page showing Lt. Bill Sharpley and Sgt. John Woodcock pulling a little double duty as they were called upon to round up an alligator that was found on U.S Highway 80 Saturday morning.
IT’S BARELY 8 A.M. AND WE’RE ALREADY WRANGLING ALLIGATORS.... Watch as Lt. Bill Sharpley and Sgt. John Woodcock use a tape measurer to lasso an alligator back to its natural habitat after it was found on Hwy. 80 this morning. What a way to start a Saturday... (Note: Don’t try this if you encounter an alligator...).

We aren’t sure which part of the highway this took place on as Highway 80 runs east to west through the county, ending at Tybee Island. Considering a large section of the highway leading from Savannah to Tybee is swampy, that may explain how and where the wayward gator made its way onto the road.
