Victim found dead inside of northeast GA home after house fire

White County house fire White County Fire Services, supported through automatic aid by Cleveland Fire Department and Helen Fire Department, responded to the scene along with the White County Sheriff's Office. Initial reports indicated the possibility of an individual entrapped within the home.

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — A victim is dead after they were entrapped inside of a northeast Georgia home that caught fire.

On Saturday at 5:52 p.m., White County 911 Communications received reports of a residential fire in the area of Tom Bell Road and McGee Drive. With the assistance of the Cleveland Fire Department and Helen Fire Department, White County learned there was an individual trapped inside of the home.

When they arrived on scene, first responders found a home fully engulfed with flames.

Officials say fire crews initiated an aggressive search for the entrapped individual while subsequent arriving units worked to suppress the fire and support search operations.

When they finally made entry inside of the home, the entrapped victim was found, but died from their injuries.

The White County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to transport the deceased. Investigators from the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire.
