Victim confronted suspect about ‘erratic driving’ and was killed in west GA, GBI says

LAMAR COUNTY, Ga. — A man is dead after an apparent road rage incident in Lamar County.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged Jacob Benjamin Craft, 42, of Barnesville, with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

On Tuesday around 2:30 a.m., the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to assist in their investigation of an aggravated assault.

The investigation showed at around 1 a.m., Lamar County 911 received two calls stating the victim, Willie Floyd Perdue, 55, was shot on Warner Road in Barnesville.

Deputies arrived on scene where they found Perdue had been shot multiple times.

He was taken to Upson Regional Hospital and then transported to Atrium Navient in Macon where he later died.

According to investigators, Perdue confronted Craft about his driving. Craft then got out of the car and shot Perdue, they said.

Craft was arrested and booked at the Lamar County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
