TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — The Troup County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate died after he was found unresponsive in his cell Sunday morning.
Just after 10 a.m. on Feb. 19, a detention officer discovered the inmate who appeared to be unconscious in his cell.
Additional officers and medical staff were alerted and lifesaving measures began on the inmate and continued on the way to the hospital.

The inmate, identified as Richard P. Lindamood, 60, was pronounced deceased at 10:51 a.m.
Lindamood was from LaGrange, Georgia, and was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of battery, and two counts of exploitation and intimidation of an elderly adult.

Those charges result from an incident between Lindamood and his wife on Feb. 15.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is at the scene and will conduct an independent investigation.
