Georgia man arrested for not registering as a sex offender, deputies say

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for not properly registering a sex offender.

MCSO said it got a tip on May 13, 2022, that Mark Andrew Davis Jr., a registered sex offender, was living and working in Monroe County, Georgia without properly registering as a sex offender with the sheriff’s office.

In the state of Georgia, that is considered a felony.

MCSO started an investigation and found that Davis had been living at a local hotel and working in Monroe County for several weeks beginning around April 25, 2022.

Deputies said Davis had left the hotel and was nowhere to be found.

That was until MCSO got another tip on May 20, 2022 that Davis was walking in the city of Forsyth near Cabaniss Road and the Interstate 75 on-ramp.

Sheriff’s office investigators and deputies got an arrest warrant for Davis. They responded to the scene, arrested him and took him to the Monroe County Jail.

Channel 2 Action News reached out to authorities for a mugshot of Davis but we are still waiting for that photo.
