GAINESVILLE, Ga.,None — A former Hall County corrections officer was arrested after authorities said he admitted taking money from inmates in exchange for letting them use drugs and visit girlfriends on work detail.
Hall County Sheriff's Col. Jeff Strickland said 33-year-old Eric Miller, of Toccoa, was fired Nov. 15. He said Miller will be charged with violating his oath of office, bribery and sale of marijuana.
Miller had been assigned to supervise inmates at the recycling center on Chestnut Street. He had been employed with the county for three years.
County officials said they began investigating the jailer after they said they discovered a bag of marijuana in his uniform coat pocket.
When asked if he had a comment, Miller did not answer Channel 2 Action News reporter Manuel Bojorquez.
