• Fire forces guests from DeKalb Co. hotel

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A DeKalb County hotel guest ran door-to-door to alert others to a fire late Wednesday night.

Firefighters say several rooms on the third floor of the Quality Inn on Ranchwood Drive suffered damage from the fire.

Derris Bradford and his girlfriend showed Channel 2's Liz Artz video they took of the fire after they noticed smoke around 11:30 p.m.

Bradford said he ran to the lobby to notify the desk clerk, and then ran door-to-door to notify the other guests.

"There would have been some tragedies. There would have been a couple deaths if people were in the rooms actually asleep," Bradford said.

Fire investigators have not determined the cause, but officials said they think they know where the fire started after receiving a tip from someone who noticed suspicious activity before the fire broke out.
