FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. — Franklin County sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible explosive device inside a bank.
The FBI as well as agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation surrounded the First Citizens Bank in the 9600 block of Lavonia Road in Carnesville on Thursday afternoon.
According to the sheriff, a South Carolina man walked into the bank and demanded money. He was given several bags of money, two of which had dye backs, investigators said.
The suspect, who was taken into custody a short time later, also left something on the counter that resembled a bomb and fled the building, authorities said.
A robot was being used to investigate the device. Several nearby streets were closed as a result.
