Fashion Uncorked unleashes cool designs for good cause

Fashion Uncorked 2013 unleashed 10 designers' creations on Atlanta Saturday night. The event pits designer against designer with a potential career-changing prize, all in the name of charity.
Each of the designers, selected from a pool of contestants who submitted sketches, were tasked with creating four designs: a children's outfit, a matching teddy bear, an outfit for the day and evening attire. Judges scored the designs on creativity and style.

ATLANTA — Saturday night's event was a benefit for Easter Seals of North Georgia. The organization supports 3,000 kids who attend its programs every day. Many of the young kids who first visit Easter Seals are far behind their peers and some are unable to speak. But by the time they are kindergarten age, the overwhelming majority of the kids in Easter Seals' programs are on grade level or above.

Fashion Uncorked began in 2011 as a way to attract more donors to Easter Seals. The 2011 event had 200 people. This year's event attracted 500 people.
And after all the models had strutted their stuff down the catwalk, Keon Brown was picked as this year's winner. Brown won a trip to Fashion Week in Los Angeles, a spread in Kontrol Magazine and will get a chance to present his fashion line at New Orleans Fashion Week in 2014. Brown wasn't the only winner on the night -- the event raised more than $20,000 for Easter Seals.
