LITHONIA, Ga.,None — A family is speaking out about a life cut short and who might be to blame. Andrew Wayne Fortune, 27, was killed after a robbery in his own home Saturday.
Family and friends describe Fortune as a young entrepreneur who started his own business in his Lithonia home, where he was gunned down.
Family members said they believe he may have been killed by someone he trusted.
"I don't know the gunmen, but God does. And, I'm not here to speak to the gunmen. I am here to speak to anyone who would hold a gun to anybody's head and choose to pull the trigger. You don't have the right to take someone's life. That's God's decision," family spokeswoman Connie Smith said.
Smith said Fortune attended Howard University and later move into a town home where he operated Black Heart Inc. LLC.
"A young entrepreneur, who loved his art of tattooing, who started a business was providing a service to a customer. A customer that perhaps he trusted and in a way he trusted that cost him his life," Smith said.
On Friday night, police said the suspects entered Fortune's home demanding money.
After a struggle, and shooting, Fortune later died at Grady Hospital, according to police
"He had promise. There was more life in him than we will ever know because he was gunned down so soon, Smith said.
