HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A 31-year-old man was arrested after attacking employees and robbing multiple Henry County hair salons, Henry County police said.
The suspect, Artemio Hernandez, stopped at a Quick Set Salon on North Henry Boulevard on Oct. 23, Henry police Maj. Jason Bolton said in a Wednesday news release. Hernandez grabbed cash from the store's cash register and escorted two employees to the back of the store, Bolton said.
Hernandez zip-tied both women, turned off the lights and began to unzip one of the employees' pants, Bolton said. He said the second woman pleaded with him to stop and offered her ATM card and pin number.
Hernandez accepted the offer but threatened to return and rape her if the pin number didn't work, Bolton said. Before he left, he groped one of the victim's chests, Bolton said.
The next day, Hernandez made his way to a Dominican Hair Salon down the street, Bolton said. He pulled out a gun, grabbed a female employee by the hair and ordered her to open the register, Bolton said. When she pointed him toward the owner, the owner opened the register, and Hernandez made off with some money, Bolton said.
With detailed descriptions and a sketch of Hernandez, police managed to arrest him during an armed robbery at a Payless Shoe Store in Chamblee two days later, Bolton said.
Hernandez was charged with two counts of armed robbery and sexual battery. He was being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
