ATLANTA — Local doctors are warning about a potentially deadly virus, and it's not Ebola.
Ebola precautions are getting all the attention but local doctors say the protection you are much more likely to need is a flu vaccine.
"We've had two cases of Ebola, multiple cases of the flu this year, and this really is preventable," said Dr. Lisa Walker Dillard of Piedmont Healthcare.
She urges all her patients to get vaccinated, since flu cases are starting to pop up in Georgia.
"You'll probably have some soreness in your arm," Dillard said.
Patient Li Li wants to stay healthy for her child.
"I want to protect my family. I also do a lot of travel with my work and sitting in an airplane with hundreds of people makes me feel a little bit better," Li Li said.
Without the flu immunization 200,000 Americans may need flu treatment this season.
New this year, the CDC recommends young children get the nasal vaccine, which is more effective for healthy children ages 2 through 8.
And if you do get the flu, see a doctor within the first 72 hours for anti-viral treatment.
Dillard isn't sure if it's the focus on Ebola and health, but more people are coming in to roll up their sleeves.
