DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police recruits set to start training in June will have to look for other jobs.
The department has canceled its June police academy because of the budget cuts, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish confirmed to Channel 2.
Parish also said that a hiring event planned this weekend was also canceled.
The county slashed the police budget by $4.7 million. Forty current recruits will continue training, but no decision has been made on their jobs.
