Dead Body Found In Park Near Playground

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A dead body was found at a DeKalb County park on Saturday morning, police said.

A resident walking near a playground found the body in Tobie Grant Park at about 8:45 a.m., DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said. She said the victim was shot to death.

The park is bordered by apartments and houses. Residents said the area is quiet. One resident said everyone knows each other in the neighborhood, but no one recognized the victim.

Resident Carlene Hill told Channel 2's Pam Martin that her mother heard the gunshots at about 6 a.m. Hours later, Willie Mosley said he was opening a nearby gymnasium for children, when someone approached him and said he had found a body. Mosley said he immediately called 911.

"Who had the audacity to just leave a man here? They said he got shot in the head, like who had the audacity to do that?" Hill asked.
