Atlanta city council's public safety committee approved a $20,000 settlement to Bob Jamerson, also known as "Baton Bob," after a wrongful arrest in Midtown 2 years ago.
The settlement must still pass full council.
An off duty Atlanta police officer arrested Jamerson for a "verbal altercation," though all those charges were later dropped. The officer later left the force.
Later on, an Atlanta Police Department supervisor, according to the city's legal department, coerced Jamerson to make a positive post on his Facebook page. The officer got a week's suspension.
Jamerson has filed a federal lawsuit.
Jamerson was not in the committee meeting Tuesday.
