ATLANTA, Ga.,None — One man is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital and his co-worker has been arrested after a stabbing in a Buckhead parking lot.
The incident happened outside the Waffle House near Piedmont Avenue and Pharr Road Saturday night.
"It appeared the incident occurred as a result of a verbal altercation, which escalated into a physical fight and then the subsequent stabbing," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci of the Atlanta Police Department.
The two men worked together at the nearby Cactus Car Wash. Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News that the pair were walking to a bus stop when the fight started. At some point in their fight, they walked over to the Waffle House parking lot where the fight resumed, witnesses said.
The injured man was stabbed several times, including at least one time in the face.
Atlanta police have arrested 60-year-old Charles Edward Williams in connection with the fight. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
"They got into an argument about something on the job, and it escalated to the fight," said co-worker Telfrud Gary.
The manager at the Cactus Car Wash told Channel 2 Action News reporter Rebecca Lindstorm that both were good employees and no one had seen Williams with a knife. Gary told Lindstorm that he wouldn't be surprised if Williams had one.
"We in Atlanta," Gary said. "You got to have something."
