Police surrounded Ohio State University in Columbus Monday morning after receiving reports of an active shooter situation on campus, according to the school's Department of Public Safety.
School officials warned students away from Watts Hall in an alert sent out just before 10 a.m.
"Run, hide, fight," the tweet said.
Details surrounding the situation were not immediately available. It was not clear whether anyone was injured.
In subsequent tweets, school officials asked students to shelter in place.
