Atlanta Rapper's Posse Involved In Shooting

ATLANTA — A fight inside a downtown Atlanta shoe store escalated after police said Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame's bodyguard fired his gun.

According to Atlanta police spokesman James Polite, there was a large physical altercation among several men. One of the men produced a weapon and as a result an armed bodyguard of the local entertainer discharged his weapon, according to officials.

The bodyguard informed police he was employed by rapper Waka Flocka Flame, who's real name is Juaqin Malphurs.

The incident happened about 4:18 p.m. on Thursday at Walter's shoe store near the intersection of Peachtree Center Avenue and Decatur Street.

The bodyguard was detained, then released after several witness reported he acted in self defense.

No one was shot and no serious injuries were reported.

The ordeal prompted an automated call to Georgia State students because some classrooms were located in the general area.

It was not clear if Waka Flocka Flame was at the scene during the incident.
