Armed, Masked Men Attack, Rob Gas Station Store Clerks

ATLANTA,None — Two robbers are on the run after attacking two store clerks Wednesday night during a hold-up in northwest Atlanta.

The robbery happened at a Shell gas station on Howell Mill Road, east of Interstate 75.

The clerks told Atlanta police officers that two men wearing ski masks came inside and robbed them at gunpoint.

“One of the individuals went behind the counter and put the employees on the ground. The other individual stood by the doorway keeping watch,” Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs said.

One robber cleaned out the cash register and then went through the clerks’ pockets, Hobbs said.

“Took personal property from both employees -- wallet, cellphones and keys,” he said.

At one point, things turned violent when one of the robbers started beating up a clerk.

“One of the individuals was pistol whipped, sustained some minor injuries,” Hobbs said.

The robbers ran away after taking their loot. Police are reviewing store surveillance video to see if the cameras captured the robbery.

Despite being shaken up, the injured employee refused medical treatment, and the store remained open for business.
