Amazing Zoo Atlanta animal encounter that costs only $3 returns

Zoo Atlanta giraffe experience (Zoo Atlanta)

ATLANTA — Let’s be real, giraffes rank as one of the coolest animals around. And an animal encounter at Zoo Atlanta offers visitors a chance to get incredibly close to these one-of-a-kind creatures.

Zoo Atlanta offers a giraffe feeding experience. For $3, guests may purchase two pieces of romaine lettuce, an aspect of the giraffes’ regular diet. Lettuce may only be purchased from a giraffe guide at Twiga Terrace.

The experience was paused during the pandemic but is offered once again. The program is currently available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to noon, weather and animal interest permitting.

The giraffes at Zoo Atlanta – Abu, Etana and Isooba – share their habitat with zebras and ostriches and may be found at the highest point of the African Savanna, which opened in August 2019. The Savanna is also home to new and significantly expanded habitats for African elephants, meerkats, warthogs and the complex’s newest addition, Mumbles, a 9-year-old southern white rhino.

While Zoo Atlanta does not require masks for persons under 10 years old to visit, to participate in this optional experience, all persons ages 2 years old and up will be required to wear masks without exception. Close parental supervision is required for children under 8 years old.

The experience must be purchased using a credit or debit card only; Zoo Atlanta is not currently processing cash transactions.
