Fulton County offers job fair and workshops
The Fulton County Job Fair takes place at the Adamsville Workforce Development Career Center on June 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers say a number of employers will be ready to hire within 90 days. To help job seekers prepare for the fair, there will be a job readiness workshop on Wednesday, June 8. Interested job seekers are encouraged to visit the county's website for more information.
Young 'game changers' present big ideas to Douglasville leaders
Douglasville city leaders are looking for big ideas to help revitalize their community. Since the beginning of the year, more than 40 millennials have been working to provide recommendations to address some of the most persistent issues in the city like community identity and workforce education. The “game changers” will present their ideas and recommendations Friday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at the Douglasville Conference Center at 6700 Church Street. The event is free and open to the public.
Volunteers connect families and communities to free summer lunches
Officials say more than 60 percent of Georgia students are on the reduced price meal program in school and 85 percent of them go hungry during the summer. This summer the U.S. Department of Agriculture is helping to provide lunches at thousands of sites.
