AUGUSTA, Ga. — This year’s Masters Tournament plans for now to allow a limited number of fans in 2021.

The 2020 Masters was pushed back last year from April to November because of coronavirus concerns. Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley announced Monday the 85th edition would move forward April 5-11.

“Following the successful conduct of the Masters Tournament last November with only essential personnel, we are confident in our ability to responsibly invite a limited number of patrons to Augusta National in April,” Ridley said. “As with the November Masters, we will implement practices and policies that will protect the health and safety of everyone in attendance.”

The announcement did not say how many people would be allowed on the grounds in April. Ridley said the same COVID-19 policies that were in place in November will be brought back.

“Nothing is, or will be, more important than the well-being of all involved. While we are disappointed that we will be unable to accommodate a full complement of patrons this year, we will continue our efforts to ensure that all who purchased tickets from Augusta National will have access in 2022, provided conditions improve,” Ridley said.

In addition to Masters tournament, Ridley said the Augusta National Women’s Amateur is on as scheduled with a small number of fans allowed to attend. The tournament, which debut in 2019, was canceled last year.
