Georgia State No. 4, Georgia Southern No. 5 seed for Sun Belt tournament

Georgia State Panthers are prepping for the men's basketball postseason.

March is finally here and that means it’s time for college basketball fans favorite time of year: March Madness.

But first, teams will have to get past their conference tournaments to punch a ticket to the big dance.

Georgia State and Georgia Southern secured top seeds in the Sun Belt tournament, which begins Saturday. The Panthers earned No. 4 seed and the Eagles earned the No. 5 seed.

Both teams will receive a bye to start the tournament, but there is a chance the two could meet in the quarterfinals.

Georgia Southern receives a first-round bye and will host a second-round game on Monday March 9 at 7 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse.

The winner of that game will face Georgia State in the quarterfinals on Wednesday March 11.

Georgia Southern hasn’t hosted a conference tournament game at Hanner Fieldhouse since 1992. Ticket information for the Eagles’ game can be found here.

The Panthers secured the quarterfinals game following a win over first-place Little Rock in the final regular season game. Ticket information for that game can be found here.
