Before crews arrived, investigators said a family member called and told them an elderly woman might be at the home and would not be able to get out on her own.
A Paulding County Sheriff’s deputy got to the scene before firefighters and attempted to get into the home, but the intense heat and flames pushed the deputy back.
Paulding County Fire Department arrived a few minutes later and put the fire out. They searched the house and found the woman under debris from the fire near the front of the home.
