Walt Disney World raises ticket prices

It is going to be more expensive to experience the magic of Disney.

Walt Disney World announced on Tuesday that it will once again be raising ticket prices, WFTV reported.

The price increase will be for base tickets as well as annual passes, with the new pricing going into effect on Dec. 8.

USA Today reported this is the first increase for Walt Disney World base tickets since 2019.

Along with the price change, the park will offer dynamic pricing for each park. Magic Kingdom will be the most expensive for a single-day, single-park ticket on its busiest day, the publication reported.

Here is the breakdown, according to WFTV:

• Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $109-$159.
• EPCOT: $114-$179.
• Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $124-$179.
• Magic Kingdom: $124-$189.

Existing ticket purchases will not be affected, meaning that you will not have to pay extra for tickets you have already purchased.

In addition to the rising cost of single-day, single-park tickets, Disney is also raising the cost of Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus options, but other than saying that the cost will vary depending on date and demand, the actual price was not revealed, USA Today reported.

The price for annual passes will also increase starting on Dec. 8, but new annual pass sales are on hold and have been since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to USA Today, once new passes are for sale again, the price structure will be:

• Pixie Dust Pass: $399, which is no change.
• Pirate Pass: $749, an increase of $50, up from $699.
• Sorcerer Pass: $969, an increase of $70, up from $899.
• Incredi-Pass: $1399, an increase of $100, up from $1299.

Current annual pass holders will still get a discount to renew, but Disney did not release the prices.

Earlier this week, CEO Bob Chapek said that the company was going to freeze hiring and make “some small staff reductions,” CNN reported.

Disney employs about 190,000 people, CNBC reported.
