Authorities found Karli Short, 26, dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head around 10:30 a.m. Monday, the news station reported. She was found lying on the road in the 300 block of 25th Street, according to WPXI.

Her father, who was drafted by the New York Giants in 2000 and played a total of five seasons with the team, told WPXI that he was “heartbroken” and “angry” by his daughter’s death, adding that being Karli Short’s father was his greatest achievement.

“I’m heartbroken, angry. I’m frustrated. I’m scared. I don’t know what to do,” Short told the news station. “She was funny. She had such a big personality.”

Karli Short was pregnant at the time of her death, and Brandon Short told WPXI that the family had recently learned she was having a baby boy.

“We lost two,” he said.

In a post on Facebook, Brandon Short called the shooting “a senseless act of gun violence” and thanked supporters.
