Bryan Sutton, 62, is facing felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under 13 and aggravated kidnapping after he allegedly entered the bathroom stall and sexually abused the boy, WGN-TV reported.

According to police, a 61-year-old security guard is credited with stopping the alleged abuse shortly after it began, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Responding officers arrested Sutton at the scene, WGN reported.

Sutton is also accused of battering the security guard, but no formal charges have been filed in connection with the separate attack, the Tribune reported.

According to the newspaper, the aggravated kidnapping stems from Sutton allegedly restraining the boy in the bathroom stall against his will.

Police also noted in their report that the Sutton was known to the security guard because he had been involved in previous incidents at the restaurant, “regarding trespassing and other disturbances.”

The child was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in good condition, the Tribune reported.

Nick Karavites, owner and operator of the McDonald’s where the attack occurred, told the newspaper in an emailed statement that he is “thankful for the swift actions of our security personnel and law enforcement” for addressing the alleged attack so swiftly.

“We are devastated that this terrible incident occurred in one of our restaurants. McDonald’s has always operated with a strong commitment to families, and that includes creating safe environments for all guests,” Karavites stated.
