ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl met his victim on Instagram, Orange County sheriff’s deputies said.
According to WFTV, authorities arrested Keith Edward Greene Jr. in Santa Rosa County after a missing Apopka girl triggered an Amber Alert over the weekend. He faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, luring or enticing a child, and custody interference.
Law enforcement officials also located the girl, who is safe and back with her family, the news outlet reported.
Deputies said Greene contacted the girl on Instagram and told her what to pack before her disappearance, according to WFTV. He added that the two of them should “lay low” for at least six years, authorities said.
In a Facebook post Monday, the Sheriff’s Office described the case as “a cautionary tale for parents.”
“It’s so important that you are aware of your kids' online and social media activity,” the post read.
