‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ to air on TV this holiday season

The Peanuts gang will appear on broadcast TV again this month with the Thanksgiving special “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” set to air on PBS and PBS Kids stations.

The movie will air ad-free at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT on Nov. 21. It is also available for streaming on Apple TV+.

The 1973 film is one of three Peanuts holiday classics airing on PBS this year following a partnership announced in 2020 between Apple and PBS.

Last month, the stations aired 1966′s “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” for the first time. In December, PBS and PBS Kids will also air 1965′s “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

“We are delighted to bring the joy of these holiday classics to families across the country, in partnership with our member stations,” PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger said last month in a statement.

“During these challenging times, public television continues to be a free and easily accessible source of comfort, inspiration and education for millions of Americans.”

“A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” first aired on CBS in 1973. It also aired on The Disney Channel and Nickelodeon before finding a home in 2001 on ABC. The movie was shown on the network every year through 2019.

In 2020, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” aired for the first time on PBS after Apple announced a partnership with entertainment company WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions, which made Apple TV+ the home of all things Peanuts. Earlier this year, Apple said it plans to air a new holiday special featuring Snoopy and the gang for New Year’s Eve called “For Auld Lang Syne.” The movie will premiere Dec. 10 on Apple TV+.
