Arizona man shoots at ex-wife’s car, seriously injures teenage boy, police say

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — An Arizona man is accused of seriously injuring a teenager when he fired at a vehicle the 15-year-old boy was riding in, authorities said.

Jason Robert Moore, 42, of Scottsdale, was charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and endangerment, KTVK reported. His bail was set at $750,000, the television station reported.

According to police, Moore shot at a car Monday night after a woman complained to police that her ex-husband was chasing her in his vehicle, the Arizona Republic reported. The woman was with her teenage son and 13-year-old daughter, police said.

At least three bullets struck the woman’s car, KTVK reported. The boy was struck by gunfire and seriously injured, Scottsdale Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Ben Hoster told reporters. No one else was injured, KTVK reported. The boy was taken to an area hospital and underwent surgery, the television station reported.

Authorities said Moore fled the scene after the shooting, KNXV reported.

Members of the Scottsdale Police Department SWAT team found Moore during a traffic stop and arrested him around 9:30 p.m., KTVK reported.

It was not clear if there was a biological relationship between Moore and the children, KNXV reported.

Moore is scheduled to appear in court July 30, according to KTVK.
