Teenage Passenger Dies In Ice-Related Crash

COBB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A teenage passenger was killed in a weather-related car crash on Friday, Cobb County police said.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Stilesboro Road in Marietta, Cobb County police spokesman Joseph Hernandez said.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandra Covett was driving eastbound on Stilesboro Road, when she came across some ice leftover from the recent snowstorm, Hernandez said. He said Covett lost control of her Mitsubishi Eclipse, which spun into oncoming traffic.

Covett's car was then struck by a Hyundai Sonata in the westbound lanes, driven by 30-year-old Courtney Ferguson, Hernandez said. Covett and Ferguson were transported to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries, but a teenage passenger in Covett's car did not survive the crash.

Eighteen-year-old Karli Jobling, of Kennesaw, was pronounced dead at the scene, Hernandez said. He said charges are pending following the completion of a crash investigation by the Cobb County Police Department.
