A teenager is in jail after police said he threatened to take a gun to class Monday and open fire.
Detectives do not think there were any specific targets.
Paulding County High School was deserted Sunday night except for sheriff's deputies driving by.
One parent said she does not feel comfortable yet.
“I may feel different later. But right now, it's for my child's safety," Tori Stansberry said.
A few hours earlier, the sheriff's office arrested a male student from Paulding High School and charged him with making terroristic threats.
“The student was going to come to school with a gun, and basically shoot people," Cpl. Ashley Henson with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said.
Henson said a tip was sent to the sheriff's office from a national hotline. Detectives figured out who called it in, which led them to the suspect.
Students said there have been a handful of threats like this over the last year.
PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — "It was a gang-related thing. There were cops everywhere. I still went to school, and I'll go to school tomorrow," 11th grader Koby Jones said.
Jacob Kent, a senior, said it would affect him if his school had a similiar problem.
“I’m a senior. I'm ready to graduate. If something like this were to keep happening to my school, honestly I wouldn't feel comfortable wanting to go there anymore."
The school district sent an alert out to parents about the threat, and despite the arrest, Standberry said she will keep her child home from school Monday.
“I was still not going to take the chance. It's just not worth it to me," she said.
