Relative Charged After Hot Car Infant Death

Jennifer Peacock

KENNESAW, Ga. — Police have charged a woman accused of leaving a 5-month-old family member in a hot car outside a daycare center. The baby later died.

Kennesaw police arrested and charged Jennifer Peacock, 21, with involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children.

Peacock is accused of leaving the infant in a hot car for about five hours while she went inside the Ivey Hall Day School to work, according to police.

Peacock told police she forgot about the child, who had fallen asleep in the back seat of her car.

The child was found hours later, unresponsive, according to police.

Emergency crews said they were unable to revive the child.

Police said Peacock turned herself in Thursday to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office and is now being held at the Cobb County Detention Center.
