ATLANTA — Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is investigating the arrest of a pilot who was pulled from the cockpit.
Police in Amsterdam removed the pilot as he prepared to fly Tuesday.
Officials said the 52-year-old pilot's blood alcohol level was above the legal limit in that country. Authorities said he blew a .023 in a breath test. The FAA said a pilot cannot fly a plane with a blood alcohol level higher than .018.
The flight to Newark, N.J. was canceled.
Delta issued a statement that said its alcohol policy is "among the strictest in the industry" and that the company had no tolerance for violations.
The pilot was suspended pending the outcome of an investigation.
