FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A police officer was in the hospital Thursday morning after his patrol car hit a tree and took out a fence.
The accident happened just after 11 p.m. Wednesday on Butner Road in south Fulton County.
Medics, followed by a motorcade of flashing blue lights and sirens, rushed a Fulton County police officer to Grady Memorial Hospital. The officer crashed his patrol car just before midnight.

McBride could not say if the officer was answering a call at the time of the crash, but the officer was on patrol.
"I don't have that information yet at this time," McBride said.
The officer has been identified as Aaron Brewington, an 11-month employee of the department.
Despite the extensive damage to the police car, the officer escaped the crash with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said Brewington sustained a fractured vertebrae and head laceration. He is listed in stable condition.
