MARTA: 10 Workers Suspended For Sleeping On Job

ATLANTA — Ten MARTA workers have been suspended after officials said they were all caught sleeping on the job.

"MARTA takes this incident very seriously and will not tolerate this type of behavior," the company said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News.

The employees belong to the Electrical Power and Equipment Department, a MARTA representative said.

MARTA said it launched a thorough investigation after staff witnessed the incident on June 24 and reported it to management.

All 10 employees have been suspended for ten 10 days without pay, a MARTA representative said.

A supervisor, who was not caught sleeping, was terminated for performance and policy violations in connection with the incident, the company said.
