DEKALB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A man was shot to death in front of four children inside a DeKalb County apartment Sunday night, DeKalb police said.

The shooting happened at the Wynhollow Apartments around 10 p.m.
The victim's mother said her son, 24-year-old Abdul Basir, was babysitting his girlfriend's children when the gunman knocked at the door. Basir opened the door but tried to shut it when he saw who was outside, Basir's mother said.
The gunman then kicked the door open and shot Basir in the chest in front of the children, Basir's mother said. The oldest child was 7 years old.
By the time police got to the apartment, it was too late to save Basir.
"When officers arrived, they located a deceased male in the apartment," DeKalb police Lt. Joe Fagan told Channel 2.
Basir died from a single gunshot to the chest, police said.
There is description of the shooter or any vehicle, but detectives said they have some strong leads. Police said they will interview the children with the help of a psychologist.
