ROSWELL, Ga.,None — An Alpharetta man is accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman while doing laundry at her apartment.
Police were called to the Roswell apartment just before 2 a.m. Friday. Upon arrival, the suspect, 27-year-old Alexander Dennis, approached them with his side of the story, Roswell police said.
Dennis said he went to the victim's apartment to do laundry and watch the NBA finals. He said the victim was asleep, and he was half-asleep when she pressed her buttocks against his pelvic region, and he thought that meant she was interested in "going further." In response, he then fondled her genitalia, he said. The victim woke up yelling, and he apologized before leaving, Dennis said.
But the victim had a different take on the night's events.
She said she has known Dennis for a little more than a year and has previously informed him that she is not interested in men. She said she allows Dennis to do laundry at her apartment because he claims he doesn't own a washer or dryer.
The victim said she fell asleep facedown on her couch but woke up on her back with her shorts pulled down. She said Dennis, nearly 200 pounds, was naked and touching her with several fingers.
When she yelled at him, he replied, "I thought it was mutual," the victim said.
She said she asked him, "How is it mutual when I am asleep and drooling?"
Dennis was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery. He was taken to the Roswell Detention Center.
