ATLANTA - A Mableton mother is jumping for joy since winning a massive Mega Millions prize. Denise Ford, 45, matched the first five numbers from the Dec. 27 Mega Millions drawing, winning a $1 million prize.
Ford purchased the winning Quik Pik ticket at Kroger #0451, 4715 S. Atlanta Road S.E. in Smyrna.
She claimed her prize Jan. 9 at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.
Winning numbers from the Dec. 27 Mega Millions drawing were: 4-15-35-48-49 and the Mega Ball was 11.
“I had no idea,” said Ford, who works in sales. “It was posted online, and I couldn’t believe it.”
Initially “frozen” in shock, the lucky winner is now bubbling over with excitement.
“I jumped up and down and started crying,” Ford recalled.
With an adult daughter, Ford intends to fund a trust with her winnings.
