RIVERDALE, Ga.,None — Authorities say a Lowe's home improvement store in Riverdale has closed, affecting nearly 100 employees who worked there.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Michael Buczyner said that employees working Sunday evening were told the news, then escorted from the building on Georgia Highway 85 south of Atlanta.
Buczyner said many employees were shocked.
"After five years, this is how they treat their employees?" asked one former employee.
A company official told WSB that the Riverdale store is one of seven nationwide that closed over the weekend.
The Mooresville, N.C.-based company recently reported its second-quarter profit was nearly flat as volatile weather and shoppers' worries about the economy muted demand during the key summer selling season.
